We ordered this toy approximately seven weeks ago. It took three weeks for it to ship after we ordered it and then arrived broken. Since it arrived on a Friday afternoon we had to wait until Monday to contact Hasbro regarding a return. They told us they would send us a shipping label and we would just have to return the head to them and they would send us a new one. Well, it took over a week for the shipping label to arrive. We then promptly mailed the head into them and three weeks later received a letter from them stating that they were out of stock and would send a replacement as soon as they were able. So over $200 including shipping and handling and seven weeks later and we are still waiting for a replacement.
Please don’t even waste your money buying this toy. Most likely you will end up being as disappointed and thoroughly disgusted as we are. The customer service regarding this item has been non-existant. If we don’t receive this item soon we’ll be asking for a full refund.

I purchased this for my grand daughter. She saw the pony in a local Walmart and didn’t want to leave it. She will be receiving this pony on December 25, 2007 for Christmas from Santa. It is different than what was in the store as they only had “butterscotch”.

FEATURES I’D LIKE TO SEE IN S’MORES (AND BUTTERSCOTCH):
By way of background, we received two Furreal ponies a few weeks ago. My 5 year old son received S’mores; my 6 year old daughter received Butterscotch.
*Ability to interact and respond to voice commands as well.
*Noise-free motor when pony moves head (would add to realism).
*Some type of animation from the pony’s lower half – e.g. ability to lift front leg, shift weight, etc. The Furreal puppy is able to do this so it seems possible that the pony could as well. S’mores in its current form is “paralyzed” from the hindquarters down.
*More than just head movement and galloping sounds when pony is in “walking” mode.
*Ability to interact with other Furreal animals, especially the other Furreal pony.
*Better access to on/off switch – opening the Velcro slit under S’more’s belly is awkward. Plus, the “ripping” sound of Velcro every time you want to turn the pony on/off can be disturbing for some small children. I wish you could turn activate S’mores by patting a particular part of its body; similarly, I wish you could deactivate S’mores by patting another part of its body.
*I wish the pony’s flank (mid-section) would mimic a real pony’s breathing.
*Despite the fact that S’mores is the more recent (2007) Furreal pony, the S’mores model has no new or improved features from the 2006 Butterscotch model.
*Reduced suggested retail price (e.g. more in the range of [...]).
Notwithstanding the above, S’mores (like Butterscotch) is a cute toy.
But be forewarned: you may be disappointed with this toy’s capabilities if you don’t know beforehand its limitations. In reality, this toy is slightly more innovative than one of those stuffed animals from the 80’s that did flips and responded to remote control, which is not to say that children won’t find Furreal’s pony line cute and fun to play with. My children “ooh-ed” and “ahh-ed” over their ponies for the first hour or so but then moved on to other things (bicycles and scooters, motorized ride-on vehicles, Leapster’s Leapfrog and Tag products, etc.). I would note that the more positive reviews of the Furreal pony line came from buyers who had children under the age of 5 years. With the proliferation of electronic gadgets available to today’s youth, I suppose the reality is that it simply takes more to capture and sustain the attention and interest of kindergarten aged (and beyond) children.

I got a Gupi as a late X-mas present from my mom. Even though it had bad reviews I still wanted it. I guess I thought it was cute. I didn’t know it wouldn’t work! So the next time I looked at Smores here I noticed her price went down! I started screaming with excitement, “Mom come here!” I begged her to buy it before the price went up again. I said I’d give her all my money, [...], to help pay for it, and then two days later the price went back up again. “I told you”, I said. So we looked it up on Google, and we found it for the price it was on amazon before the price went up so we bought one! Now I have a pony who loves me and I love her, and my sisters bug me for rides all the time! It’s the greatest thing since the internet!

The Smore’s horse is a neat item and very lifelike. My daughter is just 2 1/2yrs old and probably would enjoy the horse more if she was a bit older. I worry about the head and neck with the movement gears and my daughters rough play.
